Tell us a bit about what you appreciate about them as an RCB: For as long as I have worked with vulnerable families, I have worked alongside Lalori Lager. Lalori is well-known in our community, a center spoke in the wheel. The nature of our work puts us in contact with some of the darkest forces of humanity; her business provides intensive outpatient services to individuals who struggle with substance abuse disorder and her role as a leader in the Fisherman’s Wives group often puts her at the center of trauma and grief management when lives are lost at sea.
Despite this, Lalori is an eternal optimist. She believes in the ability of people to change, of communities to respond and of our world to heal. She believes because she sees these victories happening everyday, at every level. She has helped me stay invested in the work when it becomes difficult and hope feels lost. Sometimes the greatest thing we can do is be a good person who knows the hard truths and loves deeply despite all warnings to the contrary.
