Tell us a bit about what you appreciate about them as an RCB: McCloud resident, Steve Richardson, recently led a coalition of the McCloud Fire Safe Council, Caltrans, U.S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE to create what’s known as a “shaded fuel break” along Highway 89 between Mount Shasta City and McCloud. Every year we are seeing more and more deadly fires, especially in Northern California and one of the main causes of these fires is motor vehicles. Steve’s expertise and relationships allowed him to make this fuel break a reality, by bringing together the necessary major players in fire suppression, along with private land owners. Steve’s efforts could very literally be what keeps our little towns from harm’s way in the years that come.
